Accommodation in an eco-cottage in a Sri Lankan village - Ja-Ela. Experience village life, away yet close to the city. Located in the Ja-Ela village (Makevita) which is at the ourskirts of the commercial capital of Sri Lanka -Colombo- this quaint and charming cottage is surrounded by a 50 perch garden filled with fruit trees and flower bushes visited by a wide variety of birds and animals from Woodpeckers to Lovebirds. The cottage offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, kitchen, spacious living and dining area.
Wake up to the call of the roosters that stroll the pathways of the village. Rejuvenate your skin and bring back your youth with a mineral water bath from our well. Stroll in the village, sit by the side of the paddy fields, visit a miniature sluice gate, visit a 100 year old temple and the Pola (a village market with bargain prices for a variety items from clothes to food, cashew nuts to tea). A church is within walking distance too. Enjoy a Thambili (King Coconut) from the trees in our own garden and savor the very nutritious Jackfruit (called 'Polos' in Sri Lanka). This multi nutrient fruit/vegetable is grown in the compound and you will be served a nutritious meal (upon request). The government of Sri Lanka has banned cutting these trees, due to its highly nourishing properties. We believe this fruit is closest to milk in nutrition.
The cottage is within walking distance to shops. 10 minutes drive to the renowned Muthurajawela lagoon; 15 minutes drive to the famous Negombo beach, 15 minutes to Katunayake airport, 30 minutes to Colombo city and 2 hours to the famous hill capital Kandy.
Laundry, transport, and meals, telephone, internet and TV are available upon request at extra charge. Enjoy an Ayurvedic touch therapy (upon request, extra charge) using age old methods taught by the chief priest Rev Dammananda.
A rejuvinating retreat from the stresses of city-life.
